Installation & Care

Milliotone vinyl wrap film is designed for professional installation. Experienced DIY installers can get great results too, but a wrap is only as good as its prep and install. This page covers what to know before, during and after your wrap, and what our warranty covers.

Before you install

  • Inspect the film first. Check color, finish and condition before you cut. Film that has been installed, cut or altered is considered accepted and can't be returned.
  • Record the batch/lot ID printed on each roll. You'll need it to reorder a matching color for repairs later.
  • Use rolls from the same batch on one car whenever possible. Order everything you need, plus extra for mistakes and touch-ups, at the same time.
  • Apply to OEM factory paint or clearcoat only. Repainted, primed, aftermarket or damaged surfaces can lift or pull when the film is removed.
  • Store rolls indoors in their original packaging, at room temperature (about 68–78°F) and moderate humidity, until you're ready to install.

Installation tips

  • Install indoors in a clean, dust-free space. A two-person team makes large panels much easier.
  • Our films are for dry application only.
  • Basic tools: squeegee with a soft buffer edge, knife or knifeless tape, masking tape, heat gun and wrap gloves.
  • Remove the protective top liner or cap sheet. On pre-cut Super Gloss pieces, remove the cap sheet before installing to avoid tunneling.
  • Don't overstretch the film. Overstretching can cause discoloration and lifting.
  • Post-heat every panel after install to set the adhesive, especially edges and recesses. Check the product page for that film's specifications, since some films (for example, brushed or textured patterns) must be installed in one direction.

Caring for your wrap

  • Give the adhesive time to settle before the first wash. Your installer can tell you how long to wait.
  • Hand wash with a mild, pH-neutral car shampoo and a soft mitt. Rinse well and dry with a clean microfiber towel.
  • Avoid abrasive polishes, compounds and harsh solvents. If you use a pressure washer, keep your distance and don't aim directly at edges or seams.
  • Matte and satin films: use matte-safe cleaning products, don't wax or polish, and skip automatic car washes.
  • Clean off bird droppings, tree sap and fuel spills as soon as you can.
  • Light surface scratching from installation or everyday use is normal wear.
